| A depiction of the Bloody Angle,
where the bitterest fighting of the Battle of Spotsylvania
took place on May 12, 1864.
The front was so narrow that the Northerners were piled
up thirty ranks deep. Hand-to-hand fighting of unbelievable
savagery took place. Cannon fired canister at point-blank
range, and soldiers were stabbed to death with bayonets
thrust between the logs in the parapet which separated
the combatants. |
This diorama consists of approximately
35 figures and cannon, including 2 standard-bearers, and
is presented on a finished wood base measuring 20”W
by 7” D by 7” H, with a brass nameplate and
covered in a clear acrylic case.
